I started The Brothers Karamazov in January of 2023 but have let it lull around the 100-page mark now for almost a year. I am going to try the Serial Reader app to finish it. If you haven't heard of it, it's a free app that will serialize classics that are in the public domain, automatically giving you a bite-sized chunk to read each day. Audio may work well for me too - thanks for the recommendation.
I did this with Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow and a couple of other longer books I've started in the past few years. (see my comment above about Babel) Your app doesn't help with that, but I've just come to embrace the idea that I don't have to slog my way through something that doesn't capture my imagination in 100 pages, NOR do I have to give up on it. Future Norma can pick up a book again whenever she wants.
I'm doing Footnotes and Tangent's Year Long Read Along of War and Peace - one chapter a day.
I'm curious - I have a copy of Renkl's book. Should I wait until next solstice to start it or should I start it at this season? Is it the kind of book you can pick up anywhere?
This is the second time I’ve seen The Comfort of Crows recommended. I’m going to get it and start it now. I feel like it would be great at any time of the year, and could just be read through over and over.
I'm thinking about going back through The Count of Monte Cristo. It's my favorite classic. All the detail forces me to slow down instead of panic-read like I usually do.
Apparently I'm slow reading Babel by RF Kuang from 2022 until forever. Just can't get through it.
I'm intentionally slow reading The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche.

No! That sounds amazing!

I think you can definitely pick it up at any point!!!
